What are the shows like?

Education research shows that children (and adults) learn most effectively when they are having fun. This is often referred to as "Edutainment." Keith subscribes to this by maintaining a good balance between delivering an important message and just having fun. His training and experience as a teacher, author, and scientist are blended seamlessly with his skills as a magician and ventriloquist. For example, when he talks to the children about the importance of reading, he speaks as an accomplished author and he delivers his message with sincere passion. Similarly, as a scientist, when the theme is the environment or even drug abuse, he delivers information based on substantiated scientific facts. Keith’s real strength is the ability to teach without the student realizing he or she is being taught.

“The magic show was excellent! The references you made to reading had an effect on the children. The media specialist told me that about "200" children had requested your magic book as well as some of the other books..." Cynthia Shaw, EIP teacher, Comer Elementary School, Comer, GA

“…What a delight! The assembly program given by you recently at Atha Road Elementary School was outstanding. From the laughter and attentiveness, you could tell how much the students enjoyed your magic and ventriloquist act geared toward recognizing ‘Red Ribbon Week.’ Please accept my thanks and that of the entire school for your marvelous program, and please understand how deeply we appreciate your coming our way.” H.W. Gill George, Principal, Atha Road Elementary School, Monroe, GA.

Topics and Themes

Below are some of the more popular themes Keith has developed shows around or are currently under development.

If given enough advanced time, Keith will develop a magic and ventriloquism show around most themes. Please contact him to discuss specifics.

How Long are the Shows?

The typical show lasts about 35 to 45 minutes depending on the age of the children. Keith usually arrives 30 minutes before the start of the show. It takes about 20 minutes to take down the backdrop and pack the props after the show He provides his own props, supplies and sound system.

How Much are the Shows?

Keith is very much aware of the limited budgets of most schools. Therefore, he strives to keep his performance fees as low as possible. Although money is not his primary motivator, magic and ventriloquism props, supplies and travel are costly. Still, his performance fees are usually lower than performers offering comparable shows. Be sure to inquire about the cooperative discount program available for schools. This is a great way to lower the cost with little effort on the part of the school. Of course, there is always a 100% money back guarantee if not completely satisfied with Keith’s performance.

What are the Shows Like?

Keith has become one of the most sought after magicians in Georgia. Library managers appreciate how he incorporates his puppets (using ventriloquism) into each show. Currently, he is working on the 2017 theme 'Build a Better World.' For teens, he has a great workshop planned showing how to entertain friends and family with magic and ventriloquism. Keith provides a high energy show that involves not just a few of the children, but the entire audience. He uses puppets and ventriloquism in addition to magic to reinforce the importance of reading to the children. One of the children’s favorite characters is “Vern” the zany talking/singing bird. The children often ask if he can fly and what he eats. The 2017 show will feature Vern even more prominently as he encourages children to join the summer reading program. Keith is one of only a couple magicians in Georgia who combine both magic and ventriloquism into all of his shows. He is a master at his craft as evidenced by being a semi-finalist in three international magic and/or ventriloquism competitions. Since most children have never seen a ventriloquist live, that in itself is a unique experience.

"Your show was, without a doubt, one of the best I've seen! I can't even describe how impressed I was." Jessie Johnson, Children's Coordinator, Oconee County Library, Watkinsville, GA

“...Thank you so much for the terrific performance! Parents and their children have asked me when you’re coming back. I can say without hesitation your performance was one of the best I’ve seen. In all my years running the Winterville Branch Library your show was the very first one all the children sat through...not one wiggler or wanderer. And this includes toddlers and teens: our two hardest ages to entertain.” Mary Linnemann, Branch Manager, Winterville Branch Library,Winterville, Georgia.

“What a wonderful time we all had watching your magic and listening to your stories about reading. It is obvious you love what you do as it is reflected in your interaction with the audience and your involvement in the present moment. Your show had the perfect balance of silliness and object lesson..." Suzie DeGrasse, Branch Manager, Madison County Library, Danielsville, GA
